Boiler and central heating installations and upgrades
Boiler and central heating installations and upgrades:
Ask yourself how old is my boiler?
If your boiler is over ten years old it isn’t as efficient as it should be, and you should consider replacing it. There are several reasons why – the two key facts are that it’s better for the environment and it will save money on your bills.
Modern boilers heat water more efficiently so they use less gas or oil to do the same task. This saves on energy. Over time the savings will probably cover the cost of the boiler.
Building regulations stipulate that if you are replacing an old boiler, the new one must be A-rated for energy efficiency and it’s our company policy to use the most energy efficient models we can. This means the boiler must be at least 88 per cent efficient. In fact, most modern boilers score above 90 per cent.
However, often a boiler is not installed in isolation, there may be other works which need to be done or it makes sense to do them at the same time. That’s something we can discuss with you on site before you make any decisions.
A modern boiler will increase your score on the Energy Performance Certificate and with a combi boiler, they provide heating and hot water on demand, and you can do away with your old hot water tank. This can also make your property more attractive to a potential buyer if you are considering selling or downsizing, but all depending on the property size and water demand.
Again, we tend to be busier in the winter months so if you do want to replace your boiler, it’s better to plan this for the spring and summer as it’s likely you will have less of a wait.
We recognise this is an investment and can discuss options with you on the phone if that’s helpful to you.
We are also part of a national not-for-profit scheme where some vulnerable people on low income can get a low cost boiler repair depending on their circumstances. We can look at this on a case by case basis.
